Requirements
CITES and Trophy Documentation
You must be in possession of relevant CITES permits issued by the country into which you will be importing your trophies. Without the relevant import CITES permits your trophies cannot be exported from Tanzania.
CITES permits are required for category 1 trophies collected while on safari (Leopard and Elephant). Legendary Adventures is not responsible for obtaining CITES and other import permits for your final destination. Owing to the various complications involved with obtaining CITES permits, we strongly advise hunters to select taxidermists in the country of final destinations before commencing the safari. Your local taxidermist, wildlife department, environmental agency or agricultural agency will be able to advise you on your destination's particular CITES and import regulations.
It is important to notify us in advance of trophy export from Tanzania of any matters relevant to importing in your country of final destination.
Consent Form for Travel with Weapons Through The Netherlands
When passing through Amsterdam when traveling to Africa for a safari, it is mandatory by the Dutch Customs to file a consent application form for each transit through the Netherlands if you are carrying rifles/weapons/ammunition. In most cases this means that two applications must be completed - one for the flights to Africa and one for the return flights back to the US.
Customs Form 4457
You must acquire Customs Form 4457 which shows ownership of all personal effects such as firearms, camera, camcorders, etc. to be taken abroad. Your Customs Form 4457 must also match your Consent form to Travel through the Netherlands with Firearms form shown on previous page. For example, if you are carrying three (3) rifles abroad, those three rifles must be listed on both your Customs Form 4457 and Consent form.
Passport & Tanzania Visa
A valid passport is required for entry into Tanzania. Citizens of certain countries are required to obtain visas for entry into Tanzania. The list of such countries changes from time to time, so it is important to check with your local authorities or travel consultant regarding current visa requirements. Visas can be obtained for a fee at the airport on the day of your arrival; however, we recommend that you obtain your visa in advance to avoid unnecessary frustration and delay.
