
Born in 1965 in Nakuru, Kenya, Ian gained an early introduction to Africa
and its wilderness growing up in Zimbabwe where most of his free time was
spent hunting and fishing.
After leaving school, Ian then went on to complete his degree in
International Relations and Languages, at a University in South Africa.
In 1990, he began working in the African safari industry in Zimbabwe,
initially as a trainee guide. He completed his hunting apprenticeship and
guide license in 1993. Ian then began working in Zambia and Malawi with
Central African Wilderness Safaris conducting wilderness trails and
walking safaris throughout the areas.
In 1995, Ian moved to Tanzania and joined Ker & Downey (Tanzania),
Limited. He initially worked as a camp manager and then as a Professional
Guide. Ian still guides a number of specialized photographic safaris each
year.
