Guy was born in South Africa in 1967. After matriculating in 1984 and completing his two-year National Service he managed, developed and stocked several private game ranches in South Africa and has guided hunts. Guy has held a full Professional Hunters license since 1989. In 1992, Guy moved with his wife to Zambia where he took the position as manager and guide for Sobek Canoe Safaris. In 1994, he also began hunting professionally in Zambia.

In 1996, Guy began hunting professionally in Tanzania and has worked there ever since. He is a committed hunter and goes to great lengths to ensure a good trophy. He is also a keen fisherman and committed wing shooter. He is an active member of the Tanzania Professional Hunters Association.
